Unlock fashion intelligence with AI: connect your apparel ERP to ChatGPT and Claude
Most consumer brands have plenty of data and no time to interrogate it. AIMS360 now connects directly to the AI assistants your team already uses, so anyone who can type a sentence can ask the ERP a question and get the real number back. This guide covers what changed, what to ask, and which questions suit which kind of brand.

When this article first ran in July 2025, connecting AIMS360 to AI meant exporting a data package and uploading it into a private workspace. That is no longer how it works, and the difference matters.
AIMS360 now publishes a live app for ChatGPT and provisions a Model Context Protocol server for Claude. Both read your live orders and invoices directly through four read-only tools. No export, no upload, no file that goes stale the moment you generate it. Ask a question and the figure comes back from your database as it stands right now, as a summary, a sortable table, a chart or an Excel export.
- Then: export a package, upload it, ask questions against a snapshot, repeat the export when it aged out.
- Now: enable the connector once, ask in plain English, get an answer from live data with no file changing hands.
- Unchanged: read-only. Neither connector can create, edit, cancel or delete anything in AIMS360.
Why connected AI beats a chat window with a spreadsheet in it
A general-purpose assistant with no connection to your system will answer confidently and be wrong, because it is working from whatever you remembered to paste in. A connected one retrieves the figure and can show you the rows behind it. That is the whole difference, and it is the reason this stopped being a novelty and started being useful.
The question
Understanding business wording. Resolving “last quarter,” “my top accounts,” “the fall line.” Following up without you restating the context. Turning the result into a table, a chart or the email you were going to write anyway.
The number
Live orders and invoices at style, color and size grain. Booked kept separate from shipped so “sales” means the right thing. Margin percent, average unit retail, units back-ordered. Every channel: DTC, wholesale, retail and EDI dropship.
Twelve prompts worth trying on your own data
These are not canned reports. They are examples of wording that works, because AIMS360 resolves business language to the right fields behind the scenes.
“Which items have high stock and low velocity by size and color?” “Show styles with strong sales but poor net margins after returns.” “Highlight vendors who consistently ship late or below quality expectations.” “Which open POs should be renegotiated based on current demand?” “Rank sales reps by profitability after factoring in returns and fulfillment.” “Identify D2C customers with highest return rates and why.” “Find wholesale accounts driving margin erosion through markdowns.” “What sizes and colors get returned most, and what trends do you see?” “Based on past drops, when should we launch our next streetwear release?” “Forecast inventory overstock for Q3 by style and recommend action.” “Highlight production styles delayed more than 10 days and their impact on open orders.” “Show all production styles where forecasted demand exceeds current WIP or raw material on-hand.”Prompts by kind of brand
AIMS360 supports ten consumer product categories. The questions that matter change with the business model, so here is a starting prompt for each.
| Kind of brand | Prompt to start with |
|---|---|
| Luxury fashion | “Highlight SKUs at risk of devaluing our brand via excessive markdowns.” |
| Fast fashion | “Analyze SKU sell-through by week and recommend which styles to restock fast.” |
| Private label | “Which vendors are affecting our ability to meet retail partner deadlines?” |
| Sustainable brands | “Track ESG compliance issues or repeat vendor violations.” |
| D2C brands | “Identify customer cohorts with high AOV and low return rates.” |
| Streetwear | “Recommend ideal timing and quantity for our next capsule drop.” |
| Omnichannel | “Compare performance and margin by channel: store, Shopify, dropship.” |
| Children's wear | “Spot return trends for youth sizes and flag frequent fit issues.” |
| Activewear | “What color and size combos perform best in activewear with low return rates?” |
| Brand with retail stores | “Compare sell-through and margin by store location, and recommend restock or markdown strategy per store.” |
| Wholesale brands | “Identify top wholesale accounts by net margin and flag those with high returns, late payments or frequent cancellations.” |
| Footwear | “Analyze shoe sales by size, style and return rate. Highlight sizing issues or low-performing silhouettes.” |
Why a fashion-native ERP matters for this
Unlike a general business system, AIMS360 is built for consumer brands out of the box: styles, color and size grids, pre-packs, production tracking and multi-channel fulfillment. That structure is exactly what makes the AI answers useful, because the assistant is reading data that already understands what a size run is.
Fashion-native data model
Style, color and size preserved end to end, so a question about size-level sell-through has something real to read.
One system, every channel
Wholesale, EDI to 350+ retailers, marketplaces, Shopify and retail all draw from one master stock record.
Margin after reality
Landed cost, freight, duty, markdowns and chargebacks, so margin means margin.
Frequently asked
Enable the AIMS360 app in ChatGPT and sign in with your AIMS360 credentials. The app reads your live orders and invoices directly. There is no export step and no file to upload. If your team runs on Claude instead, AIMS360 provisions an MCP server connection that does the same job.
No. Both connectors are read-only. They can query, rank, chart and export what they find, but they cannot create, edit, cancel or delete a record in AIMS360. Your approvals and audit trail are untouched.
No. Brands of every size use AIMS360, and the connectors work the same way on a $5M business as a $400M one. The questions get bigger; the setup does not.
Whatever is already in AIMS360. The connectors read orders and invoices at style, color and size grain, along with customer, season, division, sales rep, channel and date. Nothing has to be prepared first.
Not replace, augment. It removes the queue for routine questions so your analyst spends time on the ones that actually need judgment.
Low. Type a question the way you would ask a colleague. Start with a number you already know so you learn how it interprets your wording before you rely on it.
Because the data is already in one place. Orders, inventory, EDI, production, shipping and accounting all live in the same system, so a single question can cross from a booking to a shipment to an invoice without anything being stitched together first.
Every channel. AIMS360 runs DTC, wholesale, retail and EDI dropship to major retailers in one system, so the answers span all of them.
Data handling is governed by your own OpenAI or Anthropic workspace settings and your agreement with AIMS360. Enterprise and Team workspaces are not used to train models by default. Confirm the specifics for your plan before a company-wide rollout.
Ask your own numbers a question
