Before you book

Can the AI change data, or only read it?

Both, within limits you set. Reading covers orders, inventory and reporting. Writing covers work such as order processing, allocation and invoicing. What any one person can trigger is bounded by the AIMS360 role they already have, so the assistant cannot do anything that person could not do by signing in directly.

How is access controlled?

Access follows your existing AIMS360 permissions. Everyone authenticates as themselves, so a warehouse lead and a controller see different things through the same assistant. Nothing is opened up that was not already open to that person.

Do we need a developer to set this up?

No. Connecting an MCP server is a settings step inside the assistant, not a build. AIMS360 provides the server address and walks your team through it during onboarding. A separate developer API is available if you want to build custom extensions on top.

How is this different from asking ChatGPT about my business today?

A general answer is a guess drawn from training data. An answer through the AIMS360 MCP server is read from your own records at the moment you ask, so an available to sell number reflects wholesale, EDI and marketplace commitments that have already been subtracted rather than an estimate.
