What is an ERP MCP server

Model Context Protocol is an open standard for connecting an AI assistant to an outside system. AIMS360 runs its own MCP server, so ChatGPT, Claude and Grok each connect to the same place. Nothing gets rebuilt when your team switches assistants next year, and no third party middleware sits between the assistant and your data.

AIMS360 holds one master stock record. Wholesale, EDI purchase orders from retailers, marketplace and retail commitments are subtracted before anything is called sellable, so the number accounts for demand Shopify alone cannot see.

Which open orders are past their cancel date?

Aging reads against live order records, so the list is current at the moment you ask rather than as of the last report someone ran.

What did we book in order dollars this month compared to the same month last year?

Booked order value comes back for the period you name, and you can narrow it by customer, sales rep, season or category in the next sentence without opening a report builder.

How much have we invoiced this month, and what is still open past 60 days?

Each person authenticates with their own AIMS360 credentials, so what the assistant can reach is bounded by the role they already hold.

Before you book

Can the AI change data, or only read it?

Both. It reads orders, invoices, styles, inventory and customers, and it creates and updates orders and customers from the chat today. Setting up styles from the chat, with a preview before anything saves, is planned for version 26.11.02 in November 2026. Allocation and invoicing from the chat are coming soon. What any one person can trigger is bounded by the AIMS360 role they already have, so the assistant can't do anything that person couldn't do by signing in directly.

How is access controlled?

Access follows your existing AIMS360 permissions. Everyone authenticates as themselves, so a warehouse lead and a controller see different things through the same assistant. Nothing is opened up that was not already open to that person.

Do we need a developer to set this up?

No. Connecting an MCP server is a settings step inside the assistant, not a build. AIMS360 provides the server address and walks your team through it during onboarding. A separate developer API is available if you want to build custom extensions on top.

How is this different from asking ChatGPT about my business today?

A general answer is a guess drawn from training data. An answer through the AIMS360 MCP server is read from your own records at the moment you ask, so an available to sell number reflects wholesale, EDI and marketplace commitments that have already been subtracted rather than an estimate.
