What is the AIMS360 GLS US integration?

AIMS360 rates and labels GLS US parcels on your own GLS account, in the same rate list as UPS, FedEx, USPS and DHL. GLS US is a regional parcel carrier, so it only competes on some of your lanes. Having it in the ERP means you see which lanes those are on every parcel, instead of guessing once a year in a spreadsheet.

When the label prints, the tracking number and the freight charge land back on the pick ticket and the invoice. Nothing is exported to a shipping app and keyed back in. AIMS360 is the consumer brands and apparel ERP that already holds the order, the customer and the carton.

When does a regional carrier beat a national one?

A regional carrier runs a dense network in a small area. GLS describes its own network as a large overnight and 2-day ground footprint within the Western U.S. Outside that footprint the parcel travels with a GLS regional partner, so check the transit time before you choose it.

Worth rating on GLS

Both ends are in the West

A Los Angeles or Bay Area warehouse shipping to Phoenix, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, Denver or Salt Lake City. Direct to consumer parcels across California. Wholesale parcels to Western boutiques when you are the one paying the freight.

Usually not GLS

One end is outside the network

Parcels to the Midwest and the East Coast, Sunday delivery promises, pallets, and any shipment where a retailer's routing guide has already named the carrier.

Which carrier wins is not stable. It moves with zone, weight and dimensions, which is why the comparison belongs on every parcel and not in a yearly spreadsheet.

What drives the price of a parcel, and which shipments you can and cannot rate shop, is covered on the apparel shipping page.

How does GLS work inside AIMS360?

Six steps, from opening the account to tracking on the invoice.

  1. Open your GLS US account

You hold the account and the contract with GLS. AIMS360 connects to it with your credentials.

  2. Set GLS up with the AIMS360 team

The AIMS360 team helps you add GLS to your shipping setup, during implementation or afterwards through support.

  3. GLS services become ShipVia codes

Every shipping service in AIMS360 is a ShipVia code, and the GLS services you ship with are no different. Incoming e-commerce and EDI orders map their shipping method to a ShipVia code.

  4. Rate GLS next to everything else

Rate from the customer order, the pick ticket or the invoice. GLS shows in the same list as your UPS, FedEx and USPS services.

  5. Pick the line and print the label

Choose the GLS line and the label prints against your GLS account.

  6. Tracking and freight come back

The tracking number and the freight amount land on the pick ticket and the invoice. For EDI accounts the tracking flows into the 856.

How the rate list, ShipVia codes, batch labels and third party billing work in AIMS360 is described step by step on the shipping labels and rate comparison page.

What should you check before routing a parcel to GLS?

Five questions that decide it, in the order they usually come up.

Question What to check
Where is it going? GLS US delivers to ZIP codes in its own service area, which sits inside the 10 states on its coverage map. Anywhere else the parcel rides with a regional partner, so check the transit time with GLS and compare it with your national carrier.
What day does it need to arrive? There is no Sunday pickup or delivery. Saturday delivery is by request and only in select areas.
Who is paying the freight? If a retailer pays on its own account, the routing guide names the carrier. That is a compliance question, covered under EDI retailers, and price does not come into it.
Is it a parcel or a pallet? GLS US is parcel only. Palletized wholesale orders go LTL with a VICS bill of lading.
Is it leaving the country? GLS US offers cross border service to Canada through GLS Canada. Talk to us before you plan cross border GLS parcels from AIMS360. International shipments prompt for declared value, but AIMS360 does not produce commercial invoices or customs forms.

What this does not do

Stated plainly, so nobody finds out in month two.

Limit Detail
GLS is not national Its own network sits in 10 states, and in Texas that means four metro areas. A rate list that includes GLS still needs a national carrier for everything else.
Collect freight is not rate shopping When the customer pays and their routing guide names the carrier, choosing a cheaper carrier is a compliance failure and can become a chargeback.
One shipping type per batch Batch label generation runs one shipping type at a time. A day that mixes carriers is more than one run.
Customs paperwork is not generated International shipments prompt for declared value, but commercial invoices, customs forms and HS codes are not produced here.
No GLS rates on this page GLS rates, surcharges and peak fees change every year and depend on your contract, so we do not quote them. The number that matters is the one your account returns for your parcel.

GLS US shipping integration FAQ

Questions brands ask before adding a regional carrier to their ERP.

Yes. AIMS360 rates and labels GLS US parcels on your own GLS account, in the same rate list as UPS, FedEx, USPS and DHL. You hold the GLS account and the contract, and the AIMS360 team helps you set it up. See all shipping integrations.

GLS US is a regional parcel carrier for the Western and Southwestern United States. Its legal name is General Logistics Systems US, Inc., and it is part of GLS Group. It is one of the carriers you can rate inside AIMS360 shipping.

Yes. Golden State Overnight was founded in 1995 to deliver parcels in California, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico. GLS bought GSO in 2016, and the company was renamed General Logistics Systems US in December 2019. If a routing guide or an old ship method still says GSO, the carrier behind it today is GLS US. Shipping methods are mapped with ShipVia codes.

The GLS US coverage map shows 10 states served by its own network: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Texas. In Texas the service is in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin and San Antonio areas. Other states are reached through GLS regional partners, so check a zip code with GLS before you promise a delivery date. Rate it against your other carriers on the rate comparison.

Three parcel services. Priority delivers by 10:30 a.m. the next business day to most areas. Ground delivers the next business day by 5 p.m., or 6 p.m. in rural areas, on GLS overnight lanes, and by end of day on the scheduled date for longer lanes. Saturday delivery is available in select areas on request. GLS US does not pick up or deliver on Sunday. In AIMS360 every shipping service you use is a ShipVia code.

Yes. You open the account with GLS, AIMS360 connects to it with your credentials, and the label bills to it. How carrier accounts are used is covered on the shipping labels page.

Yes. GLS appears in the same rate list as your other carrier accounts, so you can see where a regional carrier wins on a specific parcel to a specific zip code. You can rate from the customer order, the pick ticket or the invoice. The mechanics are on the shipping labels and rate comparison page.

When both ends of the shipment sit inside the GLS network. A parcel from a Los Angeles warehouse to Phoenix or Seattle is the kind of lane a Western regional carrier is built for. A parcel to New York is not. Which carrier wins moves with zone, weight and dimensions, so compare per parcel. The cost drivers are explained on the apparel shipping page.

Only when the retailer's routing guide names GLS or leaves the carrier to you. When a retailer pays on its own account, the routing guide names the carrier and price is not your decision. See EDI retailers and the 856 advance ship notice.

Yes. When the label is generated, the shipment carries the tracking number and the freight amount, and both land on the pick ticket and the invoice. For EDI accounts the tracking flows into the 856 advance ship notice. On a multi carton shipment only the lead carton's tracking number prints on the pick ticket and the invoice.

No. GLS sold its US freight business in 2024, and GLS US is a parcel carrier today. For palletized wholesale shipments you still need an LTL carrier and a bill of lading.

Open a GLS US account, then tell your AIMS360 implementation manager or support which GLS services you plan to use. We help you set GLS up, including the ShipVia codes for those services. If you are not on AIMS360 yet, book a demo and bring a few real parcels to rate.
