AIMS360 runs Shopbop EDI natively: purchase orders split by fulfillment center, an ASN carrying Shopbop's item number on every line, and the GS1-128 carton labels Shopbop added in 2026.

Shopbop is Amazon's designer and contemporary fashion store, run from Madison, Wisconsin since 1999 and largely on its own since Amazon bought it in 2006. Its EDI program is ordinary on paper and particular in practice: purchase orders now split by fulfillment center, the ASN has to carry Shopbop's own item number on every line, and in 2026 Shopbop started asking for GS1-128 carton labels. AIMS360 brands trade with Shopbop on those rules today.
Shopbop EDI is the electronic document exchange Shopbop uses with its wholesale vendors: the 850 purchase order comes in, the 856 advance ship notice and 810 invoice go back, and the 997 acknowledges each file. GS1-128 carton labels joined the program in 2026. AIMS360 runs all of it natively, and AIMS360 brands trade with Shopbop on it today.
Shopbop does not publish its vendor manual openly. What follows is the program as AIMS360 has seen it in live Shopbop trading during 2026, stated at the level we can stand behind. The manual issued to your account decides the specifics.
The documents are standard. What catches vendors out is three Shopbop habits: an order that arrives as several purchase orders, an ASN that fails because one line is missing Shopbop's own item number, and a carton label requirement that many long-standing vendors never had to meet before this year.
Shopbop was founded in Madison, Wisconsin in November 1999 as the online arm of Bop, a downtown boutique chosen for a college town with a fashion-conscious student base. The boutique closed in 2014; the website became one of the best known designer and contemporary destinations in the country. Amazon bought it in February 2006, when it was selling a little over a hundred designer lines, and has let it run largely on its own since.
In September 2013 Shopbop opened East Dane, a separate contemporary menswear site, and merged it back into Shopbop.com in 2021. Menswear and womenswear, shoes, bags, jewelry and beauty now sit under one Shopbop roof, with headquarters still in Madison.

| Document | Direction | What it carries on a Shopbop program |
|---|---|---|
| 850 | Shopbop to you | Purchase order, addressed to a Shopbop fulfillment center code. The UPCs on it have to match your item records or the order will not import cleanly. |
| 856 | You to Shopbop | Advance ship notice, one per shipment, with Shopbop's item number on every line. Shopbop tracks ASN compliance by purchase order. |
| 810 | You to Shopbop | Invoice, matched to the purchase order and the ASN. |
| 997 | Both ways | Functional acknowledgment confirming each file arrived and parsed. Watched closely, because a missing 997 is the first sign an ASN never landed. |
| 860 | Shopbop to you | Purchase order change. In the cases AIMS360 has seen, Shopbop changes have reached vendors by email instead. Confirm how changes will arrive on your account. |
| GS1-128 | On the carton | Carton label with an SSCC-18 that matches the ASN's carton loop. Added to the Shopbop program in 2026. |
In 2026 Shopbop added fulfillment center locations and began sending a separate purchase order for each one. A buy that used to arrive as one order can now arrive as several.
Each split PO is addressed to its own fulfillment center code. Those codes have to exist as ship-to locations in your system before the first split PO arrives, or the order lands without a valid destination and stalls at import.
A split buy means several shipments, several ASNs and several invoices where there used to be one of each. The work is not harder per order. There is simply more of it, and it all has to reconcile.
The size run is divided across fulfillment centers, so allocation has to fill each PO on its own terms rather than the buy as a whole. Allocation rules handle that without hand sorting.
Shopbop has asked vendors to confirm they can receive split POs. That confirmation is really about one thing: whether your system already knows every fulfillment center Shopbop may ship you an order for.
Shopbop scores the 856. Three rules come up more than any others in the Shopbop trading AIMS360 supports: Shopbop's own item number on every line, one ASN covering the whole shipment, and an ASN on file for every purchase order that shipped.
The ASN has to carry Shopbop's own item number alongside your UPC for every line. A line without it fails as a missing mandatory element, and it is the most common reason a Shopbop ASN comes back. The cross-reference is loaded during setup and kept current as styles are added.
The Shopbop manual calls for one ASN describing the whole shipment rather than several ASNs for a single truck. When several POs bound for the same fulfillment center ride one LTL shipment, plan the grouping before the truck is booked.
Shopbop's EDI team sends compliance notices for purchase orders it has no ASN on file for. The 997 is how you know the ASN landed, which is why it is worth watching rather than filing.
If an ASN goes out wrong, the correction runs through Shopbop's EDI team. Building the ASN from scanned cartons rather than from the order is what keeps that conversation rare.
In 2026 Shopbop began asking vendors for GS1-128 carton labels. Every carton gets a serial shipping container code, the SSCC-18, built from your GS1 company prefix. The label is scanned at the fulfillment center, and the SSCC on it has to be the one the ASN reports for that carton. If the two disagree, the receiving system finds out before you do.
For a brand that has shipped Shopbop for years without carton labels, this is the biggest operational change in the program. It touches three things at once: the GS1 company prefix and its registration number set up in the system, an SSCC assigned to each carton at packing, and an ASN whose carton loops carry exactly those SSCCs.
AIMS360 is a consumer brands ERP with EDI built in house and mapped to each retailer's own specification.
Every Shopbop PO imports into the same platform holding your inventory, with each fulfillment center already set up as a ship-to, so a split buy is several orders in one queue rather than several surprises.
Shopbop's item number sits against each style and size, so it lands on the ASN line automatically instead of being typed or forgotten.
Mobile scanning builds each carton, assigns its SSCC and prints the GS1-128 label from the same record.
The 856 is built from the shipment record and the cartons in it, so the ASN describes what left the building, once.
The 810 comes off the same shipment, so the invoice agrees with the PO and the ASN. Any deduction that still arrives is logged against the original order.
Shopbop, your department stores and your own Shopify site draw on one available to sell number. No per document fees on the AIMS360 side.

Yes, natively over EDI as part of the ERP, and AIMS360 brands trade with Shopbop on it today. Shopbop purchase orders land against live inventory, the ASN is built from the cartons the warehouse scanned with Shopbop's item number on every line, the GS1-128 carton label prints from the same record, and the 810 invoice comes off the same shipment. There are no per document or per kilocharacter fees on the AIMS360 side.
Yes. Amazon bought Shopbop in February 2006. Shopbop was founded in Madison, Wisconsin in November 1999 as the online arm of a downtown boutique called Bop, and it has run largely on its own inside Amazon since, with its own buyers and its own vendor program. Selling to Amazon and selling to Shopbop are separate relationships, so one does not carry you into the other.
The 850 purchase order from Shopbop, and the 856 advance ship notice and 810 invoice back, with the 997 functional acknowledgment confirming each file. GS1-128 carton labels were added in 2026. Shopbop does not publish its vendor manual openly, so this is the program as AIMS360 has seen it in live trading during 2026; the manual issued to your account decides the specifics.
Because Shopbop now splits purchase orders by fulfillment center. In 2026 Shopbop added fulfillment center locations and began sending a separate PO for each one, so a buy that used to arrive as one order can arrive as several, each addressed to its own fulfillment center code and each needing its own shipment, ASN and invoice. Every fulfillment center code has to exist as a ship-to location in your system before the first split PO arrives.
Three things come up most. Shopbop's own item number has to be on every line of the 856, and a line without it fails as a missing mandatory element. The manual calls for one ASN covering the whole shipment rather than several ASNs for one truck. And Shopbop tracks ASN compliance by purchase order, so a PO it has no ASN for comes back to you as a compliance notice.
Yes, as of 2026. Shopbop began asking vendors for GS1-128 carton labels, which means every carton gets an SSCC-18 built from your GS1 company prefix, and the SSCC on the label has to be the one the ASN reports for that carton. Vendors who shipped Shopbop for years without carton labels are setting this up now. In AIMS360 the prefix is set once and the SSCC is assigned per carton at packing.
In the cases AIMS360 has seen, Shopbop purchase order changes have reached vendors by email rather than as an 860. Confirm with your Shopbop contact how changes will arrive on your account, and agree who updates the open order, because a change handled by email has to be keyed against the order before the warehouse picks it.
Usually one of two reasons. The UPCs on the PO do not match the UPCs on your item records, or the PO is addressed to a fulfillment center code that has not been set up as a ship-to location. Both are setup data rather than translation problems, which is why item and ship-to records are loaded before go live and kept current as styles and fulfillment centers are added.
Shopbop opened East Dane as a separate contemporary menswear site in September 2013 and merged it into Shopbop.com in 2021. Menswear now sits on Shopbop alongside womenswear, so a menswear brand selling the old East Dane audience is selling Shopbop.
Yes, and most designer and contemporary brands do. Each account publishes and consumes availability separately and none reserves stock for the others, so the same unit can be promised twice. AIMS360 holds one available to sell pool across your warehouse, your 3PL and your stores, so a Shopbop PO, a department store order and a Shopify checkout draw on the same number.
Not with AIMS360. The EDI is part of the ERP, so the ASN comes from the same system that scanned the cartons and printed the labels, and the invoice comes off the same shipment. There is no second copy of the order to keep in step, and no per document or per kilocharacter fees on the AIMS360 side.
The Shopbop testing cycle and your own data drive it more than the software does. What AIMS360 removes is the build: the Shopbop maps already run for AIMS360 brands, so setup is loading your fulfillment center ship-to codes, your Shopbop item numbers and your GS1 prefix, then testing. Ask for a timeline against your account during evaluation rather than a generic number.

Company facts are from public sources: Shopbop was founded in Madison, Wisconsin in November 1999, acquired by Amazon in February 2006, opened East Dane in September 2013 and merged it into Shopbop.com in 2021. Shopbop does not publish its vendor manual openly, so the program described here, including split purchase orders by fulfillment center, ASN item number requirements, one ASN per shipment and the 2026 addition of GS1-128 carton labels, is what AIMS360 has observed in live Shopbop trading during 2026 rather than a published specification.
