AIMS360 runs Tillys EDI natively: 850 orders, 860 changes applied before the pick, an 856 on every PO before the pickup, and the 810 from the shipment.

Tillys EDI integration

Tillys EDI integration: an ASN on every PO before the pickup, every 860 applied before the pick

Tillys is the Irvine, California specialty retailer that grew from a single Los Alamitos store in 1982 into a chain of 230 stores across 33 states, selling surf, skate and streetwear brands to a young customer. Its EDI program is compact: the 850 purchase order, the 860 change, the 856 advance ship notice and the 810 invoice. What decides whether it runs cleanly is timing. The ASN has to be on file before the freight moves, and a change has to reach the order before the warehouse picks it. AIMS360 brands trade with Tillys on that program today.

The short answer

What is Tillys EDI?

Tillys EDI is the electronic document exchange Tillys runs with its vendors: the 850 purchase order and 860 purchase order change come in, and the 856 advance ship notice and 810 invoice go back. Tillys tests and connects new EDI vendors through a network partner it works with, and the routing is set during onboarding. AIMS360 runs the documents natively, and AIMS360 brands trade with Tillys on them today.

Tillys does not publish its vendor EDI guide openly. This page describes the program from published trading partner listings and what AIMS360 has seen in live Tillys trading during 2025 and 2026, stated at the level we can stand behind. The guide issued to your account decides the specifics.

The retailer

Tillys, from one Los Alamitos store to 230

In 1982 Hezy Shaked, a former Israeli Navy officer, and Tilly Levine opened a store called World of Jeans and Tops in Los Alamitos, California. It was renamed Tilly's after her, and the company is still run from Orange County, with its headquarters and distribution center in Irvine. It trades on the New York Stock Exchange as TLYS.

Tillys sells casual apparel, footwear, accessories and hardgoods, skateboards and surf and snow gear included, to young men, young women, boys and girls. The assortment mixes global brands, emerging labels and its own proprietary lines. After closing underperforming stores from 2024 into 2026, Tillys operated 230 stores across 33 states at the end of 2025, and its third quarter of fiscal 2025 was its first with comparable sales growth since late fiscal 2021.

The practical version: Tillys' headquarters and distribution center sit together in Irvine, and the distribution center team is the one that checks your paperwork. A missing ASN at Tillys is noticed by a person before it is noticed by a system.
The document set

Which EDI documents does Tillys use?

From published trading partner listings and live Tillys trading. Confirm the set and any carton labeling requirements issued to your account before mapping.

Document Direction What it does on a Tillys program
850 Tillys to you Purchase order. A repeated PO number is stopped at import in AIMS360, so the same Tillys order cannot be created twice.
860 Tillys to you Purchase order change. Tillys revises orders on the 860 rather than cancelling and reissuing them.
856 You to Tillys Advance ship notice, checked by Tillys' distribution center against every purchase order in a pickup.
810 You to Tillys Invoice, matched to the purchase order and the ASN.
997 Both ways Functional acknowledgment confirming each file arrived and parsed. The quickest way to know an ASN landed before you request a pickup.
Where the compliance is

The ASN Tillys' distribution center checks

Tillys' distribution center checks for an 856 against every purchase order in a pickup. A PO with no ASN on file is flagged back to the vendor before the freight moves, so the ASN has to go out before the pickup request, not after it.

01

An ASN per PO, before the pickup

When you request a pickup, list only purchase orders whose ASNs have already gone out, and confirm each one landed with the 997. A pickup that includes a PO without an ASN is the one that gets a call from the DC.

02

A sent ASN is a record

Once an 856 has been transmitted, a carton removed afterward means the ASN no longer matches the truck. The fix is a correction, sent and explained, not a quiet edit. Building the ASN after the last carton is closed avoids most corrections.

03

Replacement or balance?

A second 856 on the same purchase order has to say what it is: a replacement for the first, or the balance of the order shipping separately. Leaving that unclear is what turns a shipment into a conversation.

04

Cartons that match the file

The ASN lists each carton, so the carton count and contents in the file have to match what is on the truck. Scanning each carton as it is packed is what keeps the two in step.

Purchase order changes

Tillys sends changes on the 860

Tillys revises purchase orders with the 860 rather than cancelling and reissuing them. Quantities move, ship windows move and lines drop. A change that lands after the order has been picked is a change you ship against anyway, and the ASN then disagrees with the purchase order Tillys holds.

In AIMS360 a Tillys 860 arrives as a change report against the original purchase order. The team reviews it and applies the change to the open order before the warehouse picks, so the order, the allocation and later the ASN all reflect the revised PO.
The assortment

What Tillys buys, and which brands sell to it

Brands rooted in surf, skate, snow and streetwear, selling casual apparel, footwear, accessories and hardgoods to young men, young women, boys and girls, alongside Tillys' own proprietary lines.

Activewear and streetwear

Style, color and size on one record, with core styles replenished beside seasonal drops.

Denim

Waist, inseam and wash on one style, so a Tillys PO lands against the exact size and wash it ordered.

Footwear

Size runs and pre-packs on the item record, shipped beside apparel from the same warehouse.

Hardgoods and accessories

Skate, surf and snow gear, bags and accessories in the same catalog as the apparel they sell next to.

AIMS360

Running Tillys from one system

AIMS360 is a consumer brands ERP with EDI built in house and mapped to each retailer's own specification.

Step 01

Orders land once

Every Tillys purchase order imports against live inventory, and a repeated PO number is stopped rather than becoming a duplicate order.

Step 02

Changes before the pick

Each 860 is reviewed and applied to the open order before the warehouse picks it, so nothing ships against an order Tillys has already changed.

Step 03

Scan as you pack

Mobile scanning records each carton's contents as it is closed, which is what the ASN is built from.

Step 04

ASN before the pickup

The 856 goes out per purchase order from the shipment record, and the 997 confirms it landed before you request the pickup.

Step 05

Invoice from the shipment

The 810 comes off the same shipment, so it agrees with the PO and the ASN. Any deduction is logged against the original order.

Step 06

One pool across every account

Tillys, PacSun, Urban Outfitters and your own site draw on one available to sell number. No per document fees on the AIMS360 side.

Tillys EDI FAQ

What surf, skate and streetwear brands ask

Yes, natively over EDI as part of the ERP, and AIMS360 brands trade with Tillys on it today. Tillys purchase orders land against live inventory, 860 changes are applied to the open order before it is picked, the ASN is built from the cartons the warehouse closed, and the 810 invoice comes off the same shipment. There are no per document or per kilocharacter fees on the AIMS360 side.

The 850 purchase order and 860 purchase order change from Tillys, and the 856 advance ship notice and 810 invoice back, with the 997 functional acknowledgment confirming each file. Tillys does not publish its vendor EDI guide openly, so confirm the set and any carton labeling requirements issued to your account before mapping.

Tillys tests and connects new EDI vendors through a network partner it works with, and the routing is set during onboarding. Whichever route Tillys assigns, a brand on AIMS360 generates and receives the Tillys documents inside AIMS360, so the connection is setup work rather than a second system to run every day.

That there is one. Tillys' distribution center checks for an 856 against every purchase order in a pickup, and a PO with no ASN on file is flagged back to the vendor before the freight moves. Send the ASN for each PO before you request the pickup, and confirm it landed with the 997.

Only by correcting it, not by editing it quietly. Once an 856 has been transmitted, a carton removed afterward means the ASN no longer matches the truck, and the correction has to be sent and explained. A second 856 on the same PO also has to say what it is: a replacement for the first, or the balance of the order shipping separately. Building the ASN after the last carton is closed avoids most of this.

A Tillys 860 arrives in AIMS360 as a change report against the original purchase order. The team reviews it and applies the change to the open order before the warehouse picks, so the order, the allocation and later the ASN all reflect the revised PO that Tillys holds.

AIMS360 will not create the same customer purchase order twice on one account, so a repeated Tillys PO number is stopped at import rather than becoming a duplicate order. If a second copy arrives, check whether it is a resend of the same order or a genuinely new PO before doing anything else.

Tillys is headquartered in Irvine, California, where its distribution center also sits. It was founded in 1982 as World of Jeans and Tops in Los Alamitos, California, by Hezy Shaked and Tilly Levine, and trades on the New York Stock Exchange as TLYS. It operated 230 stores across 33 states at the end of 2025, after closing underperforming locations.

Brands rooted in surf, skate, snow and streetwear, selling casual apparel, footwear, accessories and hardgoods such as skateboards to young men, young women, boys and girls. Tillys mixes global brands, emerging labels and its own proprietary lines, so activewear, denim, footwear and accessories brands with a youth lifestyle angle are all in its assortment.

Yes, and most youth lifestyle brands do. Each account consumes stock separately and none reserves units for the others, so the same unit can be promised twice. AIMS360 holds one available to sell pool across your warehouse and your 3PL, so a Tillys PO, a PacSun order and a Shopify checkout draw on the same number.

Not with AIMS360. The EDI is part of the ERP, so the ASN comes from the same system that closed the cartons and the invoice comes off the same shipment. There is no second copy of the order to keep in step, and no per document or per kilocharacter fees on the AIMS360 side.

Tillys' testing cycle and your own data drive it more than the software does. What AIMS360 removes is the build: the Tillys maps already run for AIMS360 brands, so setup is connecting through the route Tillys assigns, loading your item and ship-to data, then testing. Ask for a timeline against your account during evaluation rather than a generic number.
